Mike's wife drives a Honda. When driving to work one day, her check engine light came on and started flashing. She reached out to the dealership first, but wasn't satisfied with the response they provided. That's when Mike called Fox Run Auto on her behalf.

The dealership was right in recommending she not drive the car. The check engine light can come on for any number of reasons. It could be something as simple as a loose gas cap or failing oxygen sensor. Or, it could be something much more significant. When the light illuminates red and/or starts to flash, this is generally a signal that there is a major problem. You should stop driving as soon as possible and then contact professional help.
It may still end up not being a big deal, but it's better to be safe than sorry when the check engine light or any other warning light is flashing.
Thankfully, Fox Run Auto was able to provide more assistance to Mike and his wife. We arranged for a tow truck and set her up with a loner car until we were able to properly inspect and repair the vehicle. With a flashing check engine light, it's impossible to know the problem until we can properly run diagnostic tests and perform a physical inspection.
